You Don’t Need to Be a Marketing Genius to Do It Right!

Starting a business is a feat, but with any struggle come great rewards. Making your vision a reality is difficult enough, and then there is the marketing. Marketing, for many, is uncharted territory. They are scared to get their feet wet, let alone jump right in. For some, marketing is the fun part, for others, they do not even know where to begin.

That’s where we come in! We want to share with you some marketing advice for your new venture.

1. In the beginning, become your own PR executive. Hiring a PR agency can be costly for a start up, and most likely, not even a possibility. Now, more than ever, bloggers and reporters are making themselves more available to company reps as they are constantly searching for the hot, new thing to write about. Plus, they would rather hear the story from the source, rather than a PR rep anyway. Subscribe to services such as Help A Reporter Out or Reporter Connection to connect with journalists, bloggers, and other media pros searching for topics to write about.

2. Network, network, network! Go to as many networking groups and events as you can. Meet likeminded individuals, potential clients and find your niche. The more people you meet and talk to, the more opportunities you have to get your brand out there. As you network, collect cards, and input your contacts into a CRM system, like BusinessEssentials, so you can manage and track your communication with all of your new connections.

3. Get your brand fully integrated in Social Media. Create Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn accounts for your business. Do not underestimate the power of social media. Refer to our past blog post, Back to the Basics: Facebook Marketing, for more information on how to create and engage with your fans on Facebook.

You can effectively manage all of your social media accounts right from within BusinessEssentials, saving you time and money! You are only one person, after all. Simplify your life by streamlining your operations.

4. Maximize your email campaigns. Email marketing is still one of the most effective ways to reach your clients and potential customers.  Whether you are introducing a new product or service, or simply sending out a “Thank You” email to stay engaged, providing your contacts with value and compelling content will keep them coming back. BusinessEssentials email marketing feature is completely customizable and easy to use, so you do not need to be a graphic design extraordinaire to create something visually appealing.

See our blog post, Email Marketing is Here to Stay, for more information on why email marketing is such a key component to your marketing strategy.

So, there you have it. You see, marketing doesn’t have to be a daunting undertaking. The more you streamline your marketing efforts, the more effective and efficient you can be. Now you can be the CEO, CMO, and CFO all at the same time!
